Go Pink!

A New blog post I posted over at my blog at Lockergnome.com:

“October Is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and a lot of people are changing their web site’s color schemes to go Pink for October. Pink for October is a web event started in 2006 by Matthew Oliphant. Pink for October is a web event to bring attention to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, get people talking about breast cancer, and raise money for research.

As most are aware I  also help out  my  local Komen affiliate: Laugh for the Cure, by donating my time and design knowledge to help with website design, etc.

Laugh for the Cure,® (LFTC) is a grass-roots effort founded in 2002 in Charlotte, NC by a group of friends whose lives had each been touched by breast cancer.  The event has grown into one of the most highly anticipated and unique fundraising events in Charlotte and is quickly spreading to cities across the country! Laughter is the best medicine and the PG comedy shows have universal appeal to all audiences and keep the crowd ‘laughing for a cure’!”

The Sick Life

The past couple of days has been slow for me, since I’ve been recouping from being sick last Sunday. I hit out of nowhere with a nasty stomach virus/bug, which lasted for about 24 hours thank goodness. I have not been that sick in nearly 15 years.

I’ve just started back today eating solid foods, which is going well, but I’m sticking to foods that are on the “BRAT Diet” for now. Basically it’s a diet that consist of foods that won’t hurt the stomach so it has time to heal and recover.

So the good news is that I’m getting better from that stomach bug, but I am still dealing with sinus/allergies problems too.

I can’t wait for fall to settle here in W. NC. It’s not because of cooler temps, leaves falling, etc. but just want everything that aggravates  my allergies/sinuses  ( pollen, grass cuttings, flowers, etc.) to go away.

I’m A Pirate for the Day

Today is the International Talk Like A Pirate Day, which has been going on since 1995. I enjoy  celebrating the day by cueing up a lot of pirate inspired music while working and maybe a graphic or two for some of the social media sites I follow like Twitter.
