Don’t Take Life for Granted

I’ve been dealing with a lot lately. On June 16 the day before Father’s day, I surprised my Dad by showing up a day early for Father’s Day. I spent the whole Saturday with my Mom and Dad and thought we were going to have a great evening as well as a great Father’s day, as well until Saturday evening turned tragic. As most of you already know I was in a very bad car accident with my mom and dad. I’m doing somewhat better, but unfortunately, both of my parents were killed in the wreck. We were stopped at a stop sign when a man in a flatbed truck heading north ran off the road and crashed into the driver’s side of our truck. He was going about 65 mph when he hit us. Our truck ( an s10) actually flipped several times in the air before landing. The man who hit us was also driving drunk. I’m very lucky to be alive and well enough to be typing this out for everyone to read. I posting this not to gain sympathy from others, but to let others know how much life is so precious. I would never think in a million years that I would lose my parents so early on in life. I have to say they were great parents and I will surely miss them a lot. Just take every day you spend with a loved one like it will be your last day with them, because you’ll never know when it could be your last day with them.

07/25/09/ Update:  Was not notified, which is super #FAIL for the system. Anyhow, I had stumbled across this article to find the guy had made an appeal for a lesser sentence. You can read the whole story about what happened that night here. Good thing the Judge denied the guy’s appeal…
