Adventure Weekends

May 6, 2009 @ 3:42 am | by spxds

I’m having a great week so far, but the weekend was pretty adventurous. On Sunday,Tracy and I went as usual to her dad’s house for supper. After dinner instead of heading home we decided to head to a few places in SC then got an idea to go to Charlotte to go to a few places too. Before we left Charlotte, we wanted to stopped by Amelie’s to have a late night dessert., since they are now open 24/7. I had heard a lot of good things about the French bakery and wanted to try some of their pastries. We got the Apple and Blueberry turnovers, which were really good. We both really want to go back next time we’re in Charlotte to try some of their soups or sandwiches.

Most all of the places that I knew of that stayed open late or even 24/7 are no longer in business, so it’s nice to find another place that does. So many times we have been to Charlotte for events( concerts, musicals, movies, etc) that got out late ( after 10pm) and knew of no place around that was still open to grab a snack or a place that served gourmet types of coffees either. So I’m glad to find something that is open late nights in Charlotte again.

All and All we had a great evening, we got home pretty late, but had lots of fun. I always enjoy our Sunday adventures.

Trips and Things

April 29, 2009 @ 5:03 am | by spxds

On Saturday we got back from a week long trip to Gatlinburg and It was great getting away.
Since staying downtown we were able to walk to all the shops and restaurants, which was nice and too the last time we were there in Dec. it was too cold to do a lot of walking.

I just wished we lived in a city that we could walk to everything all the time. It would definitely save on how much we use our cars and help out the environment too. One place I always enjoy going to is the “the village”. The village is a small group of shops, that were designed to look like an “old world village”. They remind me of something you would see in Europe. One of my now favorite shops there is Celtic Heritage. Pretty cool shop with a lot of Irish and Scottish gifts from jewelry to artwork to food & music.

All and all had a great time and can’t wait to visit Gatlinburg again soon.

Healthy Snacks

April 17, 2009 @ 11:25 am | by spxds

I was reading this article over at the WebWorkerDaily. This article was about a Healthy Snack delivery service that is much like Neflix, but for getting Healthy foods. I’ve heard about Graze before but never knew what it was really. It’s currently in the UK market only, but wished something like this was available for the US. I think it’s a great concept. This may show my age a little, but I remember when I was a kid we use to get the Charles Chips delivery truck to come around each week to get cookies and chips. I kinda wish delivery services like that was still popular today.

Spring Has Sprung

April 8, 2009 @ 12:37 am | by spxds

Spring is here, but does not feel like it. Weather continues to flip flop from being mildly warm & sunny to cold and rainy. I’ve been battling a cold and allergies, which both are due to this crazy weather. Wish the weather would make up its mind.

Happy Square Root Day

Happy Square Root Day! It’s March 3, 2009, or  3*3=9

Today is an unofficial holiday, but it’s a geeky holiday anyhow and it only happens every 100 years too. Learn more about this unofficial day from the article over at  the Wall Street Journal.

Finally Snow

March 2, 2009 @ 9:28 am | by spxds

I was hoping to see some a lot more snow this winter than the dusting we got in January. With the warm temps moving in lately, I thought spring was well on its way until last night. My wish for Snow has been answered. We woke up this morning to a bright white blanket of fluffy snow. What a perfect way to end Winter to get ready for Spring.

Safari 4 BETA

February 26, 2009 @ 3:57 am | by spxds

Apple  recently released Safari 4 Beta. I’ve just downloaded the new Safari beta the other day and really like it  so far. It has a lot of new features and UI changes from the old version too.

I did not like the location of the tabs in the new version, but have  found  a way to change it back to the old version via some hidden preferences in the new beta.  If you’re on Windows or Mac check out the new Safari Beta today.

Birthday and Valentines Day

February 17, 2009 @ 5:34 pm | by spxds

Saturday was two speical events, one was Valentine’s Day and the other was my birthday. Saturday has  just a perfect day. I woke up to a lot of presents. I had two big gift bags one for my birthday and one for Vday all filled with a lot of cool things. Favorite gift of all was my  TIX Clock.   It’s mostly a “geeky” clock, but I find it to be a colorful, and interesting way to show what time it is. It has been a conversation starter for sure. Then on Sunday, since it was such a beautiful day, we headed up to Chimney rock for the day to go to the park to do a little hiking, and also go through the little shops in the village too.  We had a great day. Plus I had a great weekend & birthday too.
